Wedding Trends for 2025: What’s Next and What I’d Love to See
With every new year comes fresh ideas for weddings, and 2025 is set to bring some exciting changes. As a wedding photographer based in Bristol, I get to see trends unfold firsthand. Here are some I think will define the year—and a few I’m personally hoping to see more of.
What I Think We’ll See in 2025
Sustainable Weddings
Couples are thinking more about the planet, and it’s becoming standard to see eco-friendly touches at weddings. Things like second-hand wedding dresses, seasonal flowers, and low-waste catering are becoming the norm.
Bold Colours
While neutral tones still have their place, I think we’ll see couples going for vibrant, eye-catching palettes. Deep greens, burnt oranges, and jewel tones will likely make an appearance in everything from florals to bridesmaid outfits.
Smaller Guest Lists
More people are opting for intimate ceremonies and smaller receptions, focusing on quality time with loved ones. It’s not just about cutting costs—it’s about creating a meaningful, relaxed atmosphere.
More Midweek Weddings
With venues getting booked up years in advance, weekday weddings are becoming a practical solution. They often come with a more laid-back vibe and sometimes even a better deal on venue hire.
What I’d Love to See in 2025...
First Looks
I’m a big fan of couples doing a first look before the ceremony. It’s such a special, private moment and allows for some beautiful portraits before the day gets hectic. Plus, it cuts down the time spent away from the cocktail hour, so you can enjoy more time with your guests.
More Women Giving Speeches
It’s 2025—let’s hear more from women! Whether it’s the bride, the bridesmaids, or a close friend, I’d love to see more women stepping up to the mic and sharing stories, laughter, and maybe even a few tears.
Personalised Vows
There’s something so moving about couples writing their own vows. It makes the ceremony feel unique and gives everyone a glimpse into your love story. I’d love to see more of this instead of sticking to the standard script.
Celebrant-Led Weddings
I’d also love to see more celebrant-led ceremonies. They’re so personal and flexible, allowing couples to create something truly unique. A simple registry office ceremony beforehand, followed by a personalised celebration, is such a lovely way to do things.
If you’re planning your wedding for 2025, think about the traditions you love, but don’t be afraid to make the day your own. I can’t wait to see what this year’s weddings bring!
